Three Months

New update:

Weight: 13.3
Length: Coming soon. :)

Month One, Two, and Three pictures...

New things this month:
  • He Learned to use his feet to grab things before his hands, but that was followed close by his hands. :) Now he grabs at everything.
  • Everything now goes to his mouth once he gets a hold of it.
  • Got his first cold. :( ... learned that the bulb syringe is now his least favorite thing ever!
  • He still loves to stand and now stomps his feet.
  • Has a whole new dislike for getting dress. He LOVES to hang out in just his diaper.
  • I think this is under "things Race has forgotten" but last month he rolled over a couple times and got amazing close a bunch of other times, but no longer even attempts. Haha, either he's forgotten or realized it gets him to his tummy which he cares nothing for.
  • Went on his first vacation! We went to St George for Thanksgiving. Pictures below taken by Parker's wonderful parents (and a thank you to them for always having their camera or we wouldn't have any pictures!)

Catch up!

It's amazing how little time you have when you have a baby! So this is what's been going on in the Low home...

Race is now 2 1/2 month! He had his first halloween and pretty much slept through it all. We still hauled him around to a couple neighbors house's with his cousins (pictures below of both costumes) We had an amazing halloween party at Grandma and Grandpa Low's where we carved pumpkins and ate a creepy halloween dinner.

New things race has learned:

He still is working on getting those hands to do what he wants, but he's mastered his feet! He has a chair he likes to play in that has spiders that hang down in front of him. He won't reach up with his hands to get them, but instead, he scoots down so his hips are right under them and will try and catch them between his feet. It's pretty funny to watch. :)

He's learned that if he arches his back in his swing, he slides all the way down to the bottom. I woke up one morning to him crying and he had slid all the way down and his legs were pretty much hanging off. Needless to sad, we now buckle him in.

Race still loves to stand, but he's getting his feet moving now. He doesn't know how to get them where he wants them, but he just lifts one at a time and goes back and forth. He just loves to figure out how things work!

Here are some pictures!

Sleep Sleep Sleep

So I have had so many struggles with Race and his sleep in every way and if you have any ideas i'd love to hear them.

We started with the fact that he wouldn't sleep in his bed from day one and grew quite fond of his swing. Because of this, he wouldn't sleep anywhere but his swing... even if we weren't home. So, I never could go anywhere more than two hours and and no way could we go anywhere overnight. (No vacations for us) After more tears than you could count and one day of just refusing to let Race sleep if it wasn't in his bed, FINALLY he gave in and we haven't had a problem since... but on to the next one...

This isn't new just because he's in his crib now, but Race refused to sleep and will not go down with a fight! He has never once gone to bed without tears streaming down his face. I've tried all the things people have suggested. I keep a schedule hoping that now by two months he'd get that it's nap time at certain times... we have a routine we do before every nap so get him ready... I rock him till he's really tired... set him in bed and all heck breaks loose. I've tried the suggestion of not picking him up, but soothing him while he's in bed still: no luck. I've tried picking him up and rocking him till he calms down and trying again: nothing. Putting him on an incline, wrapping him up really snug, putting blankets around him to feel enclosed, playing music, turning the temp down, turning the temp up, nothing, nothing, nothing works and i'm so frustrated. Because he fights going to sleep, he doesn't sleep soundly either and wakes up furious that he fell asleep and we start all over.

Does anyone else have a baby like this or am I just lucky? I shouldn't complain because he's so happy and fun when he's awake and he sleeps through the night, but naps are the most exhausting thing for me.

That was my little rant. Maybe that's why he sleeps through the night... he's so tired from not sleeping during the days that he crashes at night. :)

Two months old!

So race is now two months old and we just got back from the doctors. He had to get three shots

and he was so sad about it. I made Parker be the one to hold him down because there was no way i was going to be able to and not start crying. Poor little guy was a trooper though and fell asleep in my arms about five minutes later. I hear it makes them fussy the rest of the day, so we'll see how he does from here.

Length: 23.5in (73.07%)
Weight: 11.64 (50.22%)
Head: 16in (67.96%)

Things he's learned so far!
  • He smiles more than i've ever seen a little baby. From the second he wakes up til about five minutes before he falls asleep, he is amazingly happy and has the cutest smile ever!
  • He's starting to laugh. He's only done it for Parker, but i'm working on it. It must be a guy thing... for now. :)
  • He can lift his head all the way up when he's on his stomach and look around. He can spend forever laying on his Boppy just watching me (the first thing that has kept him happy besides me carrying him around)
  • He's learning how to play. I lay him in the middle of his boppy and hold his hands and he knows that he gets to stand up and starts smiling and wiggling like crazy. I help him sit up, then he straightens his legs by himself to get him the rest of the way up to standing position. He's amazingly strong!
  • He's discovered his hands and will twirl them in front of his face just looking at them forever.
  • He's extremely curious and loves to look and watch everything. We just took him to a benefits concert and he enjoyed it as much as we did. He just sat with Grandma Houle and didn't take his eyes off of Sam and Ed as they sang and played their guitars.
  • He's slept through the night for the last couple weeks. 8-10 hours every night. It's amazing!
Other just random facts about our little one:
  • When he decides he's done with his bottle instead of just stopping, he starts to gag (this shouldn't be funny or cute, but somehow it is)
  • When he wakes up he always greets me with one of his huge smiles
  • He hate laying on his back, yet loves to get his diaper changed and just laying on his pad after. The only time he will.
  • He loves to talk, but only will if you talk to him first
